The hunt for Australia’s next gold medallist is on!

Just a quick note to let you know the NSW Institute of Sport is on the lookout for Australia’s next diving gold medallist with our ‘come and try’ day at Sydney Olympic Park.
For the first time in Australia we’re hosting a boys only talent identification day (TID). Last time we hosted a TID we had over 90 kids come and try the sport, but this time we’re focusing on continuing the success in the men’s events following Matt Mitcham’s gold medal in 2008.
The day is run by the NSWIS Diving Program under our coaches Chava Sobrino (four time Olympic coach, coached Matt Mitcham to gold in Beijing), Joel Rodriguez (two time Olympian and world championship silver medallist) and Vyninka Arlow (two time Olympian, Commonwealth Games gold medallist), so all the athletes are learning from the best in the sport. There’s also no need to have necessary diving experience, it’s all about getting involved on the day and trying something new.
It’s a great initiative for kids who are looking to take up a sport that is fun, takes a lot courage and is one of the Olympic Games’ most recognisable events.
