Diving Australia Illicit Drugs in Sport Program
Published Mon 31 Mar 2014
Diving Australia (DA) has recently put in place a new Illicit Drugs in Sport (IDIS) Policy. This policy applies to all athletes, athlete support personnel, members and member organistions, employees, contractors and board members of DA. The aim of the Policy is to deter the use of illicit drugs in sport and increase education for athletes and members in relation to the potential harms of the use of illicit drugs. Penalties for athletes who breach the policy include counselling, suspension from competition and training, and a complete ban from the sport on the third breach.
DA has commenced rolling out an education program with the first mandatory workshops held at National meets in 2013. Further workshops are planned for 2014.
As part of the policy the Australian Sports Commision have produced an online education program. All coaches are now required to complete the following online course as a part of their accreditation, and Diving Australia request that this be completed by the end of May 2014.
