Rules for Diving Championships 2020


RULES FOR DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2020

Diving events shall conform to rules and regulations as laid down by the Associated Schools of NSW.

1. That boys may compete in a maximum of two age groups.

2. That boys must compete in their own age group if they wish to be considered for CIS trials.

3. That Junior divers may compete in the Intermediate age group and/or Open age group without competing in their own age group, however they will not be eligible to trial for CIS.

4. Up to 4 competitors from each School may compete in the Junior (13 & 14 years), Intermediate (15 & 16 years) and Opens (17 years + ).

5. No more than two Divers from any other age group (Junior or Intermediate) shall be allowed to dive in the Opens.

6. The order of Diving is on a yearly rotation basis.

7. Only such Dives as are listed in the FINA Diving Rules may be executed and in the groups specified.

9. All Dives for all age groups will be made from the three (3) metre or one (1) metre board.

9. All Divers must complete 4 dives in each Division - 2 dives from 2 groups (max limit 3.6) and 2 from 2 groups with no limit. Divers cannot repeat a dive in the same event.

10. No less than three (3) Judges are to Officiate, under the direction of the

Referee.

11. Divers must present to the recorder any concerns on their dive sheet prior to the time of the first Diving Event (Event 1). Dives will not be changed at this stage unless it was a mistake from the convenor of the event when entering dives.

12. Any protest must be made to the referee immediately after the dive concerned.

Method of Operation

a. The announcer to state the School, dive and degree of difficulty before each dive.

b. Signal from the Referee (whistle).

c. The dive.

d. Signal (whistle) from the referee, whereupon the judges shall simultaneously raise the score awarded by them. When an electronic judging device is used, the judges shall entered their awards into their electronic score pad immediately after the performance of the dive.

e. Announcer will announce the scores awarded by all judges for the dive.

f. The Recorder shall enter the judges score, the computer system will delete the highest and lowest scores given and multiply it by the degree of difficulty, the total of which shall be the points gained for that particular dive.

g. Scores will accumulate throughout the event and a total result will be give on completion of the competition.

CIS Nominations

• The top three (3) Divers from each age group are eligible to dive at the CIS trials on 30th March at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, Homebush.

• Divers who are interested MUST compete and indicate that they wish to represent CAS at these trials.

• These Divers will have to perform the required amount of Dives at the end of the CAS competition and will NOT go towards the CAS competition points score.

13yrs must do 4 dives.

14yrs & 15yrs must do 6 dives

16yrs & 17yrs must do 8 dives

Point scoring system

• All 3 age groups will score points.

• All 3 age groups will be added together to give a winning school at the end of the competition.

• Points will be awarded to the top 8 places in each age group.

• 1st place will receive 1 additional point (bonus) making first place worth 9 points in total, 2nd place worth 7, 3rd worth 6 etc....
